Update from Adene by SMS to me – “Saya baru siap buat surat lahir anak, sudah daftar dan saya berterima kasih diatas pertolongan kamu..sekarang saya mahu ubah lagi agama dlm mykad saya

Adenin Bin Ahmad’s pleade over his daughter’s birth certificate is over this morning. Accompanied by Christina Liew, they met with the director of National Registration Department (NRD) Sabah this morning. While Adenin was told he has to wait for the decision of Syariah Court to confirm his parents’ religious status, his daughter who was born in the QE 2 yrs ago would be issued a late birth certificate immediately. Adenin’s daughter was born without a birth certificate due to the confusion in Adenin’s MyKad (which stated his faith as Islam and he claimed not to be the case).

Both Adene & his 82 yr old father were called to attend the Syariah Court in April this year when his problem was first brought to the attention of NRD. At the meeting, Christina requested a dialogue between the NRD & some of the affected parties for NRD to explain the procedures required in rectifying their MyKad problem. The director agreed to the request after the raya holiday. Christina commented on the Director for his understanding of local tradition & common practice of inter faith marriage in Sabah. Being a Sabahan, He is very knowledgeable about the local condition. I hope he will do his best to help resolve problems of the MyKad holders.’
